Before you connect: prerequisites and permissions

The account, email, and admin access requirements to check before connecting Raison to your LMS.

Written by Romain Morvant

Check these before you start any LMS setup. Most failed integrations trace back to one of them.

Matching email addresses

Each user's Raison account must be registered with the same email address as their account in the LMS. This is how Raison matches identities across systems, and how roles defined in the LMS (instructor, student, admin) are reflected inside Raison. A mismatch prevents proper identification at launch.

Access you need

  • Administrator access to the LMS, or permission to manage developer keys, apps, and integrations

  • Administrator access to your Raison organization

  • The base URL of your LMS instance (Canvas and Blackboard only)

Moodle is different

A site administrator installs the Raison local plugin. There are no developer keys to create and no LTI fields to fill in by hand. You also don't need a Raison account beforehand: registration creates the organization for the administrator who completes setup.
