As a learner, you can tell assistants how to answer you: how long, which tone, and any extra guidance you type. These choices follow your learner profile and apply to every assistant you use with that profile.
Open Preferences
In the learner workspace, open your name menu and select Preferences. You can do the same from a share link or a website widget.
Set length, tone, and instructions
Choose Message length: Concise, Default, or Detailed. Choose Tone: Default, Professional, or Warm. Both start on Default.
In Custom instructions, type any extra guidance you want assistants to follow. For what to write and the length limit, see Custom instructions. Then select Save changes.
On a website widget only, you may also see Share page context with assistant. That setting is not in the learner workspace, and it is not on a share page. Turn it off if you do not want the widget to read the page you are on.
Mode is separate
In the chat, Mode can be Support or Effort. It does not replace Tone, Message length, or Custom instructions.
