Raison connects only after a site administrator completes the plugin's setup page. Registration then runs as a Moodle task, so cron must be running.
Setup was never started
Site administrators receive a Raison is installed but not active notification, and teachers who open Raison see a message saying it hasn't been set up yet. This is usual after a command-line or scripted install.
A site administrator must go to Site administration → Plugins → Local plugins → Raison Local Plugin, select Open Raison setup, and complete it. See Moodle setup: install the plugin.
Setup did not finish
The Integration status on the plugin settings page says registration is pending, or opening Raison shows a diagnostic screen. Check that:
Moodle is 4.4 or later
the setup was completed by a site administrator (
moodle/site:config)cron is running, and the Raison registration task isn't failing under Site administration → Server → Tasks → Ad hoc tasks
Moodle can reach Raison over HTTPS (check your firewall or proxy)
Moodle web services and the REST protocol are enabled (Site administration → Server → Web services → Manage protocols)
the Corolair REST Service (
corolair_rest) exists and is enabled under External servicesa token for that service exists under Manage tokens, owned by the Raison service account (
corolair_webservice)
Then open Raison from Moodle again (More → Raison). When a token exists but the API key is still missing, the diagnostic screen offers Retry Raison registration. If that fails too, send the bug report from the diagnostic screen. It is prefilled with your site details, and Raison assigns an API key manually within one working day.
Raison asks you to book a call
Your organization is still on the free trial. If you already have an agreement with Raison, ask your Raison contact to apply your plan instead of booking the call. See Free trial and your plan in Moodle setup: install the plugin.
A teacher can't open Raison
No Raison entry in their course, or "No Permission to access this page": they don't hold the Raison Manager role yet. Invite them from Raison and make sure they accept. See Give Moodle teachers access to Raison.
No Raison link on the site home: your theme may hide it. Add a Dashboard shortcut instead; the same article shows how.
Token or connection drops later
The Web Service token expires after 15 days and starts automatic rotation when seven days remain. If cron is not running, rotation fails and the connection breaks.
If automatic rotation fails, queue an immediate retry from the plugin settings. You will see a rate-limited warning if rotation is still unresolved when five days remain. Sites where cron can't be relied on can turn rotation off. See Moodle plugin settings.
LTI tool stays pending or does not launch
The registration URL is short-lived and bound to one organization. Generate a new URL instead of reusing an expired one.
After Add LTI Advantage, activate Raison AI Exams. Pending tools cannot launch.
In Raison, Organization → Integrations → Moodle → LTI must show as configured.
Assessment shows a troubleshooting state
The LTI launch worked. The Moodle activity is not linked to a published quiz or case study yet. Publish and link the assessment first. See Publish an assessment into Moodle.
Still stuck
Write to [email protected] with your Moodle version, whether cron is running, and a screenshot of the plugin settings page. If LTI registration failed, include the correlation ID from the error page or logs.
