Give Moodle teachers access to Raison

Invite Moodle teachers and course managers into your Raison organization, confirm they accept, and see what access they get.

Written by Romain Morvant

Once the Moodle plugin is set up, teachers and course managers get Raison through your Raison organization. You invite them from Raison, they accept, and Raison appears in their Moodle courses.

Finish Moodle setup: install the plugin first. The option to invite Moodle users only appears once the plugin is connected.

Invite Moodle users

  1. In Raison, switch to your organization at the top of the sidebar.

  2. Open your avatar menu, then Settings. Under Organization, select Members.

  3. Select Add member, then Invite Moodle user.

  4. Pick the teachers and course managers to onboard, choose Trainer or Admin, and send the invitations.

Only an organization Admin can invite.

Make sure every invitation is accepted

An invited person has no access until they accept. They accept from the invitation email, or from Notifications in Raison.

Pending invitations stay in the Members list with the role you chose. After onboarding, check that list and follow up with anyone still pending. If a link has expired, copy a fresh link from the row, or cancel the invitation and send a new one.

What they get in Moodle

Once they accept, they can open Raison from the Moodle courses where they are a teacher or a manager:

  • From a course: More → Raison AI Assistant opens assistant creation, or the analytics of the assistant already published in that course.

  • From the site home: More → Raison opens their Raison dashboard.

By default, they can create assistants only from courses they can manage. To change that, see Moodle plugin settings.

Behind the scenes, the integration gives each person the Raison Manager role in Moodle, at site level. This role only opens Raison. It grants no Moodle permission, doesn't enrol anyone, and doesn't change which courses they can see.

For Moodle administrators

  • Review who holds the role under Site administration → Users → Permissions → Assign system roles. Every assignment is also logged in Reports → Logs.

  • You can also assign Raison Manager yourself. At site level, it opens Raison from the site home and every course. Inside a single course (under Participants), it opens Raison from that course only.

  • When someone leaves your Raison organization, their Raison access ends, but the Moodle role stays until you remove it.

No Raison link on the site home

Some themes and customised home pages hide it. Add a shortcut to the Moodle Dashboard instead: add a Text block, switch the editor to HTML, and paste the snippet below with your site's address. Then edit the block's permissions so only Raison Managers see it.
