Moodle plugin settings

Every setting on the Raison local plugin page in Moodle: status, assistant placement, API key, excluded activities, and token rotation.

Written by Romain Morvant

A Moodle site administrator manages the plugin under Site administration → Plugins → Local plugins → Raison Local Plugin. Complete Moodle setup: install the plugin before changing anything here.

Integration status

Shows whether the site is connected to Raison. While setup is incomplete, it links to Open Raison setup. When setup is complete, it reads Connected. It also reports web service token problems, with a link to retry.

AI Tutor positioning on screen

Side Panel (default, recommended) docks the assistant on the right of course pages. Chatbot shows it in the bottom-right corner instead.

Allows users to create and manage AI Tutors within Raison

True (default): teachers can create assistants only from courses they can manage. False: they can also create assistants from courses they are simply enrolled in.

Raison Api Key

Filled in automatically when registration completes. Keep it secret; Raison support may ask for it. Rotate API key generates a new key and immediately invalidates the current one.

Excluded activities

A comma-separated list of activity types where the assistant is hidden, for example quiz, assign during assessments. Use the short name that appears after /mod/ in the activity's address. This also works for activity plugins from other vendors.

Hide the AI Tutor during Raison exams

On by default. The assistant is hidden on pages showing a Raison exam activity, so learners can't ask it for help during a test. Other External tool activities aren't affected; use Excluded activities for those.

Raison LTI tool host

The host the Raison exam tool launches from. Leave it as it is unless Raison support asks you to change it. It must match the tool URL of the Raison AI Exams external tool.

Disable web-service token rotation

Off by default. The web service token then expires after 15 days and is replaced automatically before it expires. Turn this on only if the replacement can't be relied on, for example when Moodle cron doesn't run regularly or outbound access to Raison isn't guaranteed.

With rotation off, the token no longer expires, and Raison stops regularly re-checking that your site still allows what the integration needs. When you change this setting, the previous token stays valid for up to 7 more days. The change needs cron and a successful call to Raison; the Integration status shows when it has been applied.

You can also make this choice on the setup page, before the first token is created. That avoids an immediate token replacement.
