Publish, unpublish, and draft status

Understand Draft and Public status, and publish or unpublish an assistant from Share so learners can or can't use it.

Written by Romain Morvant

A new assistant stays in Draft until you publish it, and learners cannot use a draft. You publish and unpublish from Share on the assistant page.

The Share teaching assistant dialog with the Make assistant public switch turned on and the Invite, Integration and Custom tabs.

Draft and Public

On Teaching assistants, the list shows Draft or Public for each assistant. The Show only filter uses slightly different words:

  • Draft for assistants that are not public yet.

  • Published for assistants learners can access.

  • All to see both.

Public in the list and Published in the filter mean the same thing: learners can use the assistant.

Publish

Turn the assistant on so learners can reach it.

  1. Open the assistant, then select Share.

  2. Under assistant visibility, turn on Make assistant public.

From the same place you can copy the link, invite learners, or attach the assistant to a course. Once it is published, share it with your learners through the channel of your choice.

Unpublish

Turn the switch off to take the assistant away from learners.

  1. Open Share again and turn off Make assistant public.

Learners can no longer interact with the assistant. You can turn it back on anytime.

If the assistant is attached to an LMS course, Raison asks whether to keep it attached. If you keep it attached, learners may still see the widget but cannot interact.
