If learners cannot open the assistant, start with publish status. A new assistant stays in Draft until you turn on Make assistant public in Share.
Check that it is public
Open the assistant from Teaching assistants.
On the list, use the Draft and Public tabs, or filter Show only Draft / Published / All. There is no Visibility column.
If it is Draft, select Share. Under Assistant visibility, turn on Make assistant public.
Check how you shared it
Public is not the same as discoverable. Learners need a path you gave them:
An invite email from Share → Invite, or from the Learners tab (Send invitation Email).
An LMS attachment from Share → Integration. If the course has no assistant, teachers see No assistant attached to this course.
Custom embed code from Share → Custom.
They see a widget but cannot chat
If you unpublished and chose Keep attached on Also detach this assistant?, learners can still see the LMS widget but cannot interact. Publish again, or Detach and attach a public assistant.
One learner only
On Learners, a row can show Banned. Ban learner removes that person's access. Use Unban learner to restore it. That learner then sees Access denied.
It is a scheduled gap
If the assistant uses Timeline, a gap between two periods takes it offline for those days without any button being pressed. See Take an assistant offline temporarily.
