Create and publish your first assistant

Create your first teaching assistant, wait while it is generated, and share it with learners.

Written by Romain Morvant

This page shows you how to create your first teaching assistant and share it with learners. After you create your account, Raison opens Create a teaching assistant. You can also start later from Quick create or from Create assistant on Teaching assistants.

Choose a starting point

The first screen asks How do you want to create your assistant? Pick one:

  • Use a collection: pick a collection from your knowledge base.

  • Start from scratch: add your own sources.

  • From Moodle, From Canvas, or From Blackboard: only if your organization has connected that LMS.

If you start from scratch, add at least one source. Generate stays unavailable until you do.

Review the preview. Leave the name blank to have it generated for you. Then select Generate assistant.

Wait while it is created

You see Your assistant is being created... This usually takes 1–2 minutes. If you do not want to wait, select Notify me by email.

If some documents need your attention, fix or review them, then continue.

Share it with learners

When you see Your assistant is ready, rename it if you want. Support and Effort modes are on by default. You can change them later in Settings.

Select Share the link. This makes the assistant public and copies the link. You can also open Settings first. If you created it from a connected LMS course, share it in the course instead.

Anyone with the link can open the assistant. It is not listed publicly. Learners enter their email, select Send verification code, then enter the 6-digit code and their name and select Verify. They do not need a teacher account.

To share later, open the assistant, select Share, and turn on Make assistant public.

On Teaching assistants, you can filter the list by Draft or Published.
