Widget settings and default display mode

Set how the assistant widget appears in Moodle: default display mode, auto open, and hiding widget alerts and buttons.

Written by Romain Morvant

If learners meet the assistant inside Moodle, you can choose how the widget looks when they land on the page. Those controls sit on Settings, tab Advanced, under Widget settings. They appear only if your organization has the Moodle plugin. If you do not see the block, Moodle is not connected. There is no widget block here for other LMS platforms.

Default display mode

Open the assistant, then Settings. Select Advanced. Under Widget settings, set Default display mode to Normal or Expanded. The default is Normal.

Auto open

Auto open widget decides whether the widget opens itself when someone visits the page. None never opens it. Once opens it on the first visit only. Always opens it every visit. The default is None.

Hide alerts and buttons

Disable widget notifications hides in-page widget alerts for learners.

Disable widget buttons injection hides the widget buttons for learners.

Identification can be overridden by integrated authentication, for example Moodle. Turning these off can mean learners never notice the assistant.

When a bar appears, select Save.
