Assistant notifications

Turn assistant email notifications on or off for each collaborator, and see how they differ from the sidebar list and widget alerts.

Written by Romain Morvant

This page explains how to get an email when a learner writes to an assistant, or when a synced course updates it. That is a bell on each person in Collaboration. It is not the widget toggle on Advanced, and it is not the Notifications list in the sidebar.

Turn email on or off

Open the assistant, then Settings. Select Collaboration. On a person in the list, select the bell. Enable assistant email notifications turns them on. Disable assistant email notifications turns them off.

When they are on, that person gets an email when a learner sends a question to this assistant, and when a synced course changes and the assistant is updated. When they are off, there is no email for those events.

You can always change your own bell. Owners and Editors can also change it for someone else. Viewers cannot.

The sidebar list is separate

The Notifications item lower in the sidebar is an in-app list: organization invitations, an assistant that is ready, or a transfer of ownership. That list does not replace the Collaboration email bell. See Use Notifications.

Widget alerts are separate

On Advanced, if Widget settings are visible (Moodle plugin), Disable widget notifications hides in-page alerts for learners. That does not stop collaborator emails. See Widget settings and default display mode.
