A video has no transcript

Fix a video resource with no transcript, whether it was uploaded, added from YouTube, or imported from Vimeo, Kaltura or Nudgis.

Written by Romain Morvant

Raison answers from a video's transcript. If there is none, the resource fails or its parsed text is empty. This page explains what to check for each video source. How transcription works is in Video transcription.

Uploaded video or audio

If the status is Error because transcription failed, retry. Check that the file is a supported audio or video type and within the size limit in Supported file formats and size limits.

YouTube (via Add a web page)

A private video cannot be read, and neither can a video blocked in your region. Make the video public or unlisted, or upload the file instead. See Add a web page.

Vimeo, Kaltura, Nudgis

Hosted videos often reuse a caption file from the platform. If Vimeo or Kaltura has no transcript, add captions on the host, then import the video again from Vimeo, Kaltura or Nudgis.

An admin must connect the integration first. Authentication errors ask you to reconfigure the integration.

If a Nudgis video cannot be added, try again or pick another one. Connecting the host is an organization admin step.
