Every question stays in the list until you delete it. The switch on the card decides whether learners see it. Turn a question off to keep it for later without removing it.
Find the switch
Open Exams, open the quiz, then go to Questions. Expand an objective group. Each card has a switch.
When the switch is on, the question is included. When it is off, the card looks faded and learners do not receive it. You can filter the list to show only active or only inactive questions. Each group also shows how many questions in that objective are active.
What learners and Preview use
Learners only receive active questions. Teacher Preview uses the same rule, so a deactivated question does not appear there either. The question stays on this list so you can edit it or switch it back on.
After you create a quiz, some questions can already be inactive when the quiz was set to keep a larger list than learners receive. That choice belongs to the quiz settings. On this list you still turn each card on or off yourself.
Deactivate or delete
Deactivating is not deleting. To remove a question for good, delete it from its card. New questions you add or generate start active.
Timer, assessment mode, and sharing are covered in separate articles.
