Capabilities enabled across the organization

Overview of the organization switches (Web search, General knowledge) that allow assistant features, and how they gate each assistant.

Written by Romain Morvant

As an organization Admin, you decide which assistant features the organization allows. This page gives an overview of those organization switches. For the steps and details, see General knowledge and web search defaults.

Where the switches are

The switches are in the organization's Settings, under Organization, Assistants, Capabilities. Only an Admin sees this page. If your role is Trainer, you do not see Assistants.

Available capabilities

Today there are two:

  • Web search lets assistants in this organization use the web, once a teacher also enables it on the assistant.

  • General knowledge lets them answer from general knowledge when their resources do not cover an in-scope topic, once enabled on the assistant.

How the switches work

These switches are organization gates. Allowing a feature does not turn it on for every assistant: new assistants still start with both options off, and a teacher enables them per assistant under Learner experience.

If you turn an organization switch off, the matching option is hidden on every assistant, and chat cannot use the feature even if that assistant had it on before.
