Reply and mark as read

Open a learner's escalated question on the Q&A tab, reply to it, and understand how threads are marked as read.

Written by Romain Morvant

On Q&A, you open a row to read the thread and reply. Opening the question is what marks it read. There is no way to mark it unread again.

Reply sheet with the quoted learner message, the thread, a reply field and a Send button

Open a question

Open the assistant, select Q&A, then select a row. A sheet opens on the right with the quoted message and the thread.

Opening the sheet marks the thread as read for you. The unread mark leaves the row. There is no control to put it back. Use the unread filter on the list to see what you have not opened yet. If the learner writes again, the thread can return to unread.

Reply

Type your answer, then select Send. The reply has a 4000-character limit. Your reply appears in this same sheet. The learner sees it on their Ask my teacher thread in chat. A reply you send by email also marks the thread as read.

To see the chat around the quoted message, select View in conversation, then come back to the thread. That does not replace the reply field.
