Adding a file to the library is not enough. The assistant answers from the collections linked on Knowledge base, after generation. New documents that are not in a linked collection, or not selected on the current Timeline period, are ignored.
Link the collection, then wait for generation
On the assistant, open Knowledge base. Add collection / Link regenerates the assistant. Unlink does too. Sync collection updates that collection but does not regenerate the assistant — this is the step people miss.
There is no separate update wizard. Refresh on the Teaching assistants list appears when the assistant is not yet generated.
Check extraction
If the file is linked but the text is wrong or empty, the assistant cannot use what is not there.
Check the current period
On Timeline, each period has its own resource list. A file added to the knowledge base is still unused until you add it to the active period, or turn on Rolling resources so the previous period's files carry forward.
