Generate a quiz from a course or from resources

Create an exam quiz from content you already have: a Moodle, Canvas or Blackboard course, or a ready Raison collection.

Written by Romain Morvant

When the material already lives in an LMS course or in a Raison collection, generate the quiz from that source. This page walks you through both options. Raison then drafts objectives and writes questions. This is not the on-demand quiz in assistant chat.

Start a quiz

Open Exams and start a new quiz. Then pick where the knowledge should come from: a connected course, or a collection you already have.

From a Moodle, Canvas or Blackboard course

If your organization connected an LMS, the source list can include From Moodle, From Canvas, or From Blackboard. If only one of those is available, the course list can appear on this same screen.

  1. Pick the course.

  2. Choose the resources the quiz should draw from. They become a new collection for this exam.

  3. Import those resources to continue. Raison imports only the content at this step, not learners.

If some documents cannot be processed, review them and try again before you continue.

From a collection

Choose Use a collection, then pick one ready collection that already has resources. Collections that are still processing, that failed, or that have no resources stay unavailable. Search the list if it is long, then continue.

From a ready collection you can also create a quiz from that collection's menu. You then confirm the collection and continue. How to build a collection is in Create and organize a collection.

What happens next

Raison drafts learning objectives from the source. Review them in Set learning objectives, then continue. Next you set how questions are generated and how the quiz is delivered, then create the quiz.

If you do not yet have a course or a collection, start from scratch instead.
