Who can see your conversations

Who can read an assistant conversation: the learner, people with access to the assistant, and anyone with a share link, plus how anonymization and memory work.

Written by Romain Morvant

A conversation with an assistant is tied to the person who started it. Other learners cannot open it. Teachers who have access to that assistant can review it. You can also share a snapshot if you choose.

The learner who started the chat

Chats sit under Recents or Pinned on that assistant. Another learner on the same assistant does not see that list and cannot open those messages.

The chat history with Pinned and Recents, and a chat's More actions menu open with Rename, Unpin, Share and Delete.

A learner can delete one chat, if you left history clearing on. That removes it from their list and from teacher views of that conversation. There is no button that wipes every conversation at once.

If you turned conversation export on, a learner can download a PDF of the messages they sent (not the assistant replies). That control is off by default, in learner experience settings.

Share a snapshot

From the chat menu, Share copies a link. Anyone with that link can read that snapshot. The learner must send a message first. Continuing the chat and sharing again creates a new snapshot. Older links keep working until they are deleted. Deleting the chat also removes its share links.

Teachers on the assistant

People with access to the assistant (owner, editor, or viewer) can review learner chats. Those roles sit in collaboration settings. An organization admin does not automatically see chats on assistants they were never added to.

On the assistant, open a learner and view the transcript. You can also export traces (with or without assistant replies). Questions a learner sent with Ask my teacher land in Q&A. You can open the chat around that message.

An assistant's Learners tab with a learner's Transcript dialog open over the learner list.

If your organization has analytics enabled, you also get usage, topics, and conversation summaries. If it is not enabled, that tab asks you to contact Raison. Learners and Q&A still work.

When names are hidden

Organization admins can anonymize learner names in organization assistant settings, under privacy. Teachers then see animal pseudonyms instead of real names and emails in analytics, transcripts, and learner management.

Memory, notes, and quizzes

Optional Memory keeps useful details across chats for this course. The learner turns it on or erases it. Raison does not show teachers a list of those details.

Recording a quiz session is a different feature. It captures a quiz attempt so a teacher can replay it later. It is not a recording of assistant chat.

Conversations are used to run this product, including teacher review. They are not used to train base language models. See Is my work used to train models?.
