An imported course is missing files

Find out why files are missing after a Moodle, Canvas or Blackboard import, and how to select them or turn on course updates.

Written by Romain Morvant

An import from Moodle, Canvas, or Blackboard only adds what you selected. This page helps you when a course shows nothing to pick or some files are missing after import. The import flow is in Import from Moodle, Canvas or Blackboard.

Nothing to pick

If there is nothing to pick, the course may be empty, or your LMS role cannot see the files. Moodle, Canvas, and Blackboard each have their own empty-course message. For platform-specific setup, see the import article for your LMS in the Related list below.

Some files are missing after import

Expand folders and modules, then select the files, pages, and URLs you need. A folder you left collapsed is not imported.

After you submit, those resources still have to process. An Error chip is a processing failure, not a missing pick.

Files added later in the LMS

If the collection is linked to a course, you can turn course updates on so new LMS files arrive on the next sync. If updates are off, files added later in the LMS do not appear until you import them again or turn updates on.
